MTS reported that the “Zashchitnik” service has included a free smart caller ID function for all its subscribers. It works on the basis of big data, determines who is calling a person, including in messengers, the source of the call on the smartphone screen, and marks calls depending on their reliability.

Incoming calls are marked in different colors:

reliable

calls that can receive spam

calls that are most likely unwanted

Spam calls are also assigned special categories. For example, from January to July 2024, about 61% of spam calls were in the “Advertisements and Surveys” category, 20% in the “Collectors” category, and 13% in “Banks and Finance”.

Big data technology allows the “Zashchitnik” to determine the official name if there are numbers in directories and open sources. The number database is updated automatically.

We see that the number of spam calls is growing rapidly, so we are expanding the list of feature announcements in Defender for all our subscribers. In the first six months of this year, we blocked 1.3 billion spam calls, which is 30% more than a year earlier.

In order for each of our subscribers to understand that they are vulnerable to spam calls, we have launched another free feature – a security rating, which is also available free of charge to all our users.

— Director of the product “Defender” Andrey Biychuk

Earlier, MTS introduced a function to search for leaks of credit data from credit organizations, online stores and other sources in the “Zashchitnik” service. It is already available free of charge to all subscribers. Users will also receive recommendations on how to act to ensure the safety of data.
