Instagram’s director, Adam Mosseri, said this Tuesday (20) that Instagram does not intend to add the ability to edit Stories, but is considering adding the option to edit the order of Highlights. From a network perspective, Stories are about spontaneityand it would be counterintuitive to include the option to change them.
“I don’t believe we’re going to develop the ability to edit Stories. The whole point of Stories is to be quick and easy ways to share what’s going on in your life,” Mosseri said. These are about being original. And if you can edit those out, that would be bad for the proposal,” he continued.
In the same publication, Mosseri admits that he likes the idea of being able to change the order of saved posts in Highlights — the public Stories archive. Posts currently saved here are displayed in chronological order.
“I believe that your profile is your space and you should be able to customize it however you want,” he said. The director notes that he will take the idea to the development team.
Right now, The user has little control over the posts in Instagram Highlights. Here you can view public posts or previous stories specific to Close Friends.
Nothing guarantees that the function will actually work — and it could take a long time for that to happen. If the feature does go live, it will likely go through a limited testing period first.
