The incident occurred in June 2023 at the Tampa Ambulatory Surgery Center, where Prasad improperly delegated duties to a person who did not have a medical license.

In one case, a patient who had not waited for the anesthesia to kick in began screaming in pain when Prasad inserted the instruments prematurely. Despite the patient’s screams and the surgical team’s warnings, Prasad continued the procedure, unaware of the patient’s discomfort due to the lack of a hearing aid.

As a result of these incidents, Dr. Prasad was fined $7,500 and required to attend continuing medical education courses. He is also prohibited from practicing on his own until further evaluation and auditing requirements are met.
