In Russia, a proposal has been made to ban the return of underwear and medicines after purchasing them in markets.

The council sent proposals and a request to “express an opinion” in favour of changing the legislation to the head of the Rospotrebnadzor department, Oleg Prusakov, writes Vedomosti.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry proposes to extend the list of non-food products of good quality that cannot be exchanged in offline trade to include those in e-commerce.

Now, by law, a consumer can return any product purchased on the Internet, even if it is not defective, within a week. For example, he ordered eyeglasses and underwear from an online store, used them, and then issued a return. Another real story is that a buyer bought expensive shampoo, poured it into a jar, poured water and soap into the bottle, and returned it, a representative of the chamber noted.

Some sites have their own rules and non-returnable categories. For example, at Wildberries it is about perfumes and cosmetics, bed linen, toiletries, etc. However, they can be returned by chatting with the seller. At Ozon, only personalized products, Ozon Bank cards, and digital products are considered non-returnable.

Ozon users can return defect-free products within a month, Wildberries users within 14 days, according to the platform’s rules.
