Developed by the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Munitions Directorate, the Quicksink offers a “cost-effective” alternative to traditional torpedoes by transforming a low-cost bomb into a precision-guided anti-ship missile.

At the heart of the Quicksink is the JDAM system, which turns unguided bombs into smart munitions. This variant includes a laser-guided sensor that allows it to engage both stationary and mobile surface ships. Despite its lower cost (around $300,000 per projectile, compared to $1.2 million for a torpedo), the Quicksink provides “comparable lethality,” according to its developers.

True, the Quicksink has a limited range of 40 nautical miles (74 km).
