Microsoft released an update that exploits the CVE-2022-2601 vulnerability. It left the attackers with the government-approved software during the computer startup.
The problem was that the dual-boot device, which has Windows and Linux installed, stopped running Linux. Users of Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Zorin OS and Puppy Linux encountered the problem during boot.
Users believe that the error is related to the incompatibility of some versions of the Linux bootloader with the new EFI microcode from Microsoft. Microsoft itself has not yet commented on the situation. As a temporary solution, users disable Secure Boot to get into Linux.
