The United States has extended anti-Russian sanctions to the structures of Norilsk Nickel, Mechel, MTS and other large organizations. This was announced by the US Treasury in a press release. In total, 400 individuals and companies were subject to restrictions.

On August 23, the US Treasury expanded sanctions against Russia and placed 400 individuals and companies on the SDN List (a list of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons).
The restrictions included organisations registered in Russia, Canada, China, France, Great Britain, Kazakhstan and Turkey. In particular, these were several structures of Norilsk Nickel and Mechel – mines, factories and enterprises. In addition, sanctions were imposed on seven tankers for transporting natural gas.
Among those targeted by sanctions are, in particular, the son of Russian Defence Minister Pavel Belousov, the chairman of the board of the First Movement Grigory Gurov, and citizens of Italy, Switzerland, Belarus, China, Austria and Turkey.
The U.S. Treasury Department said in a statement that the SDN List includes individuals and companies that help Russia evade previously imposed sanctions.
