While Samsung has long been a leader in digital zoom, starting with the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s 100x Space Zoom feature, Google’s new generation is challenging the Korean giant’s leadership.

At the beginning of the tests at 100x zoom, it turned out that the Pixel 9 Pro was weaker than the Galaxy S24 Ultra in terms of detail at 5x and 30x magnification.

But when using the Zoom Enhancement feature, the situation changed significantly. Thanks to AI, the Pixel 9 Pro managed to improve the quality of the photo at 100x zoom, resulting in a much higher quality image compared to the Samsung result.

The ability to enhance images with AI raises questions about whether the photo was actually taken from a smartphone camera, but many agree that Google is taking an important step in that direction.
