The Paris prosecutor’s office declined to comment on the arrest on Sunday and promised to issue an official statement on the case on August 26.

On the evening of 24 August, Pavel Durov was arrested at Le Bourget airport upon his arrival from Azerbaijan as part of a preliminary investigation. According to preliminary data, he is suspected of involvement in “drug trafficking, crimes against children and fraud”, which indicates a lack of restraint and cooperation between the courier’s management and the authorities.

The Russian embassy in France is taking steps to clarify the situation surrounding Pavel Durov’s detention, even though his representatives have not filed any appeal. The department added that they are in contact with the billionaire’s lawyer.
