At the beginning of the autumn session, the State Duma will consider the budget for the period 2025-2027. The government will have its own version of the minimum wage, “which definitely does not suit us,” says Nilov.
He believes that raising the minimum wage is “a matter not only of wealth, but also of the quality of life” of millions of Russians. Therefore, from January 1, 2025, the Liberal Democratic Party proposes setting it at 30 thousand rubles.
The explanatory note notes that the adoption of the bill will help lift a significant number of citizens out of poverty, reduce social tension and ensure the development of economic sectors in the domestic market. The authors also emphasize that in developed and developing countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America, the minimum wage is at least twice the subsistence level.
In 2024, the minimum wage will be raised by 18.5% to 19.2 thousand rubles, compared to 16.2 thousand rubles last year.
