A permit will be required for those visiting the country under a visa-free regime. It must be issued through the website before each entry, regardless of the type of transport by which tourists arrive in Thailand: air, sea or land.
The registration process will be free of charge. ETA holders will be able to pass through immigration checkpoints using a QR code.
The pilot version of ETA is expected to be ready in December 2024, with the full launch of the system expected in June next year.
- In July 2024, Thailand made a temporary 60-day visa-free entry for Russians permanent. As follows from the document cited by Kommersant, visa-free entry for Russians to the country is introduced for an indefinite period.
