For the third year in a row, MTS has been a leader among Russian operators in terms of implementing M2M/IoT connections (technologies that allow devices to interact with each other via the Internet) and in terms of the number of projects to create new LTE networks (Private LTE).

According to a study by the ONSIDE agency, in 2023 and the first half of 2024, MTS identified 41% of all M2M/IoT connections among mobile operators in the country, which is 21% more than a year earlier. MTS also encountered a problem 40% of all revenues in this segment.

At the beginning of 2024, the market for the first LTE networks in Russia reached 2.5 billion rubles, increasing from 1.5 billion at the beginning of 2023. 57% of such projects were implemented by MTS.

More interesting statistics:

► 86 million IoT devices were connected in Russia in 2023
► The state and business returned to the implementation of these technologies 157.7 billion rubles
► M2M and IoT are most often used for video surveillance, transport management and resource accounting

Analysts believe that the Internet of Things market could grow by 2027 254 billion rublesand the number of connections will reach 155 million. The main driving forces for plant growth are the standardization of smart lands and the installation of smart resource meters.

The biggest profits from using IoT are received by companies in trade, finance, energy and industry. Housing and public utilities, real estate and industry are becoming leaders in terms of connected IoT devices.
