Despite not being in the top 100 yesterday, Microsoft’s console quickly rose to 8th place in the sales rankings on Yodobashi, one of the country’s largest retailers, according to Automaton.
The PS5 price hike has made the Xbox Series X a better buy, as it’s now $100 cheaper. It’s also become problematic to buy consoles from Sony due to shortages in warehouses, forcing Japanese gamers to look for alternatives.
This is a pleasant surprise for Microsoft, especially on the eve of the launch of new Xbox models, including the digital version of the Series X with a 2TB SSD.
At the same time, Sony may have a hard time launching the PlayStation 5 Pro despite its advanced features, as Japanese consumers are already starting to see the Xbox as an attractive option.
