Durov is charged with a number of serious crimes, including “complicity in the management of an online platform for the purpose of carrying out illegal transactions by an organised group”, for which he could face up to 10 years in prison.

The process may take longer as the investigation will need to complete its investigation, after which the prosecutor’s office will decide whether to dismiss the case or send it to criminal court with a possible reclassification of the crimes.

Let us recall that Durov was detained at Paris Le Bourget Airport on August 24 and was soon released on bail of €5 million, the obligation to report to the police twice a week and a ban on leaving the country.
