Intel has introduced a new generation of Intel Core Ultra 200V “Lunar Lake” processors designed for thin and light PCs with artificial intelligence.

According to Intel, the Lunar Lake chips are made of durable and efficient x86 processors built “without compromise.” The company says the CPU in the Lunar Lake chip is the “fastest CPU ever in a thin-and-light notebook,” and its Xe2 graphics architecture is the “fastest GPU ramp in the industry.”

The company tested almost 50 games, and the Lunar Lake chips were 16% faster than AMD counterparts and 68% faster than Qualcomm. The processors have four p-cores (power) and four e-cores (efficiency), corresponding to Apple chips, and the memory is no longer shared.

Intel hasn’t compared the new processors to Apple’s counterparts, but the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite’s performance isn’t too far behind the M4, so Lunar Lake could be faster.

The new product delivers a 20 percent increase in performance per watt, according to Intel, while the chip consumes 40 percent less power than the previous generation.
