The company began preparing for the rebranding two years ago. The new logo and branding were developed in-house, without the involvement of an agency, but with the participation of designers.

The changes are related to the development of product solutions, technical development and the improvement of operator service. By the end of the year, the company will redesign all single-brand showrooms and around 95% of federal retail outlets in a new style.

  • Tele2 has been operating in Russia since 2003. Until 2013, the operator belonged to the Swedish company Tele2 AB. Later, the Russian division was bought by VTB. In 2020, Rostelecom consolidated 100% of Tele2 shares. Russian Tele2 had the right to use the brand for 10 years.
  • In 2022, Tele2 AB refused to renew the license to use the brand for the Russian operator Tele2 Russia. The license expires on December 31, 2024.
  • In the spring of 2024, Tele2 announced a rebranding. In June, the company filed an application with Rospatent to register a trademark containing the t2 element.
  • Tele2 (now T2) provides services in 69 regions of the country and, according to its own data, ranks third in the mobile communications market in terms of the number of subscribers. By the end of 2023, the operator’s subscriber base amounted to 48.1 million customers, including Rostelecom’s MVNO.
