The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reports the words of the director of the Moscow office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Kanchana Sing-Uda, that according to the results of the first eight months of 2024, the tourist flow approached 1.1 million trips made by Russians.

The regional head of the TAT predicts that by the end of the year this figure could reach a record 1.9 million. The highest number of Russian trips to Thailand was recorded in 2013, when 1.74 million people visited Thailand.

By the end of 2023, Thailand recorded 1,481,878 arrivals of Russian citizens.

Sing-Ud associates the increase in demand with the expansion of the geography of Russian travel to Thailand.

“We are already seeing that Russians are becoming more interested in unknown Thailand. Take, for example, Chiang Mai province. Russians are no longer such rare guests as they were five years ago,” said the head of the TAT office in Moscow.

Industry representatives interviewed by ATOR consider TAT’s forecasts to be realistic, as the country’s peak tourist season begins in November.
