Qnote specializes in web design and app development, writes the South China Morning Post. The first cat co-worker appeared in the company in 2004, but the recent move to a larger building allowed the company to expand the “staff” of cat employees: eight live permanently in the office, two come to work with the owner.
Management says the presence of cats in a company where a love of these creatures is considered a plus in an interview (and the company logo also features a cat) underlines the company’s unusual culture.
It also builds camaraderie (the pets “helped people bond”) and gives executives a chance to get to know their team members better based on how they interact with the cats.
Given that the company employs 32 people, felines make up almost a quarter of the company’s staff. At the same time, cats have their own “positions”: “chief secretary”, “manager”, “auditor” and president (“cat president”). The last one turned 20 years old.
