Game development is a long and time-consuming process that involves a range of industries and skills, including programming actions and responses, 3D modeling, and texturing, but one company appears willing to skip a few of those steps by using artificial intelligence (AI).

The first images of the popular digital experience service Roblox have been released 3D basic model The company uses AI. The tool, which is still under development, create entire minigames from just text commandswithout requiring advanced knowledge in the field.

The video shared by the Roblox team shows Rendering a racing game scenario in real time and in a few secondsText commands ask for a race track to be created in a desert environment, then move on to the forest.

Creating games with AI on Roblox

According to the official statement, the source is still is in the “first shows” phase and this is an internal project that has been tested by researchers and engineers for several months, but there is no estimate of when it will be released to the community.

The idea is that multimodal and open source — meaning it can be modified by the community and includes text, videos, and even 3D models as prompts.

“We see a powerful future where Roblox experiences will have broad generative AI capabilities that will integrate real-time rendering with gameplay. We will deliver these capabilities in a resource-efficient way, making them available to everyone on the platform,” the company says.

On Roblox, developers can make their own experiences (called game environments on the platform) available to other users. Revenue generation for both creators and the company comes primarily from microtransactions, such as purchasing cosmetic items and other virtual objects to be used in games.
