In recent years, companies like Samsung and Google have significantly increased the number of software updates they provide to customers using Android phones. However, that hasn’t happened with Motorola yet.
As Android Authority noted, Motorola’s latest Android phone, Motorola Edge 50 Neocomes with five years of operating system updates and security patches. While that’s less than the seven-year promises made by companies like Samsung and Google, it’s still a significant increase over what Motorola has previously offered.
This is great news for those looking to buy a new Motorola phone, but it’s also a bit unusual. The company’s flagship phones, such as the Motorola Edge 2024 and Motorola Razr Plus 2024, They come with three years of Android OS updates and four years of security patches. Meanwhile, the Edge 50 Neo is positioned as a mid-range phone rather than a flagship.
The Edge 50 Neo with a 6.4-inch display will go on sale in India on September 16 after its European debut. The phone uses the Dimensity 7300 chip and is available with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. It features an LTPO OLED display, a 4,310mAh battery, 68W wired charging, and 15W wireless charging. In terms of camera specs, it features a 50MP primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 10MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 32MP front camera.
Motorola’s decision to extend the software update period for the Edge 50 Neo is a positive move. Hopefully, other models will benefit from this change as well. While Motorola’s three years of Android updates are a noticeable improvement, they still fall short of the seven years of support Samsung provides for this series. Galaxy C24 and Google for the series Pixel 9However, it is worth noting that phones from Samsung and Google are significantly more expensive than Motorola.
