Trade turnover between Russia and China in the first eight months of 2024 increased by 1.9% compared with the same period last year, reaching nearly $158.47 billion, according to the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China.

During this time, goods worth $71.911 billion were imported into Russia from China (up by 0.4%), supplies from the Russian Federation to China increased by 3.2% and the amount reached $86.558 billion.

By the end of August alone, trade turnover between the two countries reached almost $21.7 billion, with Russia importing slightly more goods to China – $11.4 billion, while China supplied goods worth $10.3 billion.

In 2023, trade between the two countries grew by a record 26.3% and exceeded $240 billion. The presidents of the two countries set a goal of doubling trade between the countries from $100 billion in 2018 to $200 billion in 2024, but these indicators were already achieved in November 2023.

Russia intends to increase trade turnover with Afghanistan to $3 billion by 2025 and to $10 billion by 2030. This volume is expected to be achieved by expanding agro-industrial cooperation.
