The REMO Saratov plant produces an Internet dacha kit, which includes everything you need to organize the WI-FI Internet in the country or in other places where there is no fixed connection to the network and the cellular signal is weak.

Recently, I talked about the REMO Connect.home dacha internet kit for installing on the windowsill (my review is here). Many in the comments wrote that in poor reception conditions it is better to place the antenna higher on the outer wall of the house. REMO also has such a kit, it’s called Connect New.

The external antenna is fixed on the outside of the house wall (all necessary fasteners and even dowels and screws are included), two cables are led inside the house (the MIMO antenna – the receiving and transmitting parts are separate ) and connect to the indoor unit in which the ZTE MF79U modem router is installed, distributing Wi-Fi. A three-meter USB cable comes from the indoor unit, which can be connected to both the included power adapter and a computer (then the modem will work with the computer like a regular USB modem and distribute Wi-Fi to other devices).

The 15dBi gain antenna used is the same as the Connect.home kit, but fully protected from rain and snow. By the way, this antenna can be purchased separately: it’s called REMO Highway (my review is here).

Here is such a complicated design of the antenna inside.

It is very convenient that conventional “TV” connectors are used to connect the wires. Because of this, the cables can be easily shortened or lengthened (using normal 75 ohm TV antenna cable), and you can also remove the connectors from the cables to feed them through the holes in the wall, and then install the connectors again.

The inner block is metal. To install the SIM card, you need to unscrew the single screw and remove the metal cover, then slide the plastic cover of the modem and install the SIM card of any operator. There is a Wi-Fi password label under the cover.

The kit includes an antenna, an indoor unit with a modem and a USB cable, a power adapter, a bracket and everything needed to mount the antenna on the wall, two 5-meter cables, instructions, a separate instruction for the modem and a Saratov Megafon SIM card with 100 rubles on the account (at Rates in Saratov are slightly lower than in Moscow, and you can use this SIM card in any region).

After installing the antenna and connecting the cables, you can start using the Internet without any software configuration: a Wi-Fi network will appear, to which up to 10 devices can connect.

Of course, you can change the network name and password, view signal parameters for better antenna tuning, and make other settings in the modem’s web interface, which can be accessed at 192.168.0.1 (the default password is admin).

Once again, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the kit is designed primarily for use where the conditions for receiving a cellular network signal are not very good (the phone shows 1-2 bars, the quality of communication depends on the situation of the house, it improves the reception on the second floor). The kit can be used not only in the field, but also in a small office, garage, and wherever you need a stable Internet connection with a poor cellular network signal. If the reception is secure, you can use the REMO Connect.home kit, placed on the windowsill.

I visited the factory last year and saw how these antennas and more are made. One day I will definitely post a report on the REMO plant.

The REMO Connect New kit costs 9,900 rubles. It can be bought at Ozone, Wildberries, Yandex.Market. In DNS, the same kit is sold under the name REMO BAS 2354 FACTOR.

A couple of days ago Sergey Avdyushin wrote to me, who once created the “MS-DOS disk driver” for BK0010, on the basis of which I wrote the ANDOS disk operating system more than twenty years ago. He asked what type of antenna he would buy for the Internet in the country. Realizing that the “stars aligned”, I invited him to my dacha and handed him REMO Connect New (and we hadn’t seen each other for fifteen years).

I hope that the kit will help Sergei to organize a good Internet connection in his dacha. And in my dacha, Connect.home works great.
