The new service makes the process of writing and editing code much easier. The assistant has already been tested by thousands of Yandex developers, 60% of whom started using it regularly. Yandex Code Assistant works for free in trial mode at the request of third-party developers in Yandex Cloud.
Code continuation in Yandex Code Assistant is almost always generated within 400 milliseconds, allowing the developer to write it at a comfortable pace. The service is compatible with popular code editors and supports more than 30 programming languages, including C++, Go, Java, Kotlin, and Python. In addition, the service does not load resources from local machines.
“Yandex has many years of experience in creating its own tools for developers. It is important for us to offer the market a product that has already been tested internally on complex projects. Yandex Code Assistant will become part of the platform for creating, deploying and maintaining digital products, where we will provide even more tools to specialists,” said Grigory Atrepiev, CPO of the Yandex Cloud platform.
Users can evaluate the quality and improve the performance of the service using a special metric: user happiness. It takes into account many factors, including the length of the code suggestion accepted by the developer and the number of accepted and rejected suggestions.
At the end of August, Yandex trained a neural network to check its own texts for hallucinations. This approach allowed it to reduce the number of inaccuracies in short descriptions of places and attractions on Maps by six times.
