Vladislav Bakalchuk applies for a patent for the RWB brand – Vedomosti

A source close to the co-owner of Wildberries told Vedomosti about this. The application was accepted and registered on September 13. It is reported that IQ Technology intends to register a logo in the form of a square, which contains a stylized purple pyramid on a background of pink and yellow shades, as well as the inscription RWB.

Co-owner and managing partner of IQ Technology, Alexander Logunov, confirmed the application. He clarified that registering a trademark refers to a “strategy of protection and taking advantageous positions,” as the new management of Wildberries will be able to change its brand name to RWB.

Lawyers interviewed by the newspaper said that the registration of the RWB trademark would allow prohibiting the use of a similar and similar trademark. However, it is difficult to register only the abbreviation, so Vladislav Bakalchuk’s team decided to obtain a patent for the square logo as well.

At the same time, according to experts, RWB may qualify the registration of RWB’s trademark as “abuse of rights” and challenge the patent registration at the verification stage.

Vladislav Bakalchuk, who owns a 1% stake in Wildberries, said in early August that the family business was in “unscrupulous hands” after Wildberries merged with outdoor advertising operator Russ.

Tatyana Bakalchuk’s husband has repeatedly spoken out against the merger and transfer of Wildberries’ assets to RVB. In the middle of last month, the businessman filed an application for registration of the “VB” trademark, explaining this by the desire to protect the domain name wb.ru.
