Tests covering 36 cinnamon brands revealed that lead levels were generally within normal limits. The report highlights that only 12 products exceeded the 1 ppm threshold and three exceeded the 2 ppm limit recognised by the European Union. The highest recorded lead concentration was 3.52 ppm, significantly lower than the 5,110 ppm found in tainted cinnamon linked to poisoning cases.
