According to them, the investigation calls for a preventive measure.
The businessman’s lawyers confirmed to RB.RU that Bakalchuk was detained for 48 hours. According to them, on the morning of September 19, Bakalchuk was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code: part 2 of article 105 (murder), part 3 of article 30 and part 1 of article 105 (attempted murder), article 317 (attack on a law enforcement officer), as well as article 330 (arbitrariness).
“This is a flagrant and unprecedented violation of our client’s rights. The man who was killed in the centre of Moscow in front of a dozen witnesses suddenly became a defendant in several criminal cases,” the lawyers stressed. They called the murder accusations “absurd”.
“Information on all the details of the procedure should be requested from law enforcement authorities,” the press service of RVB (a company formed as a result of the merger of Wildberries and outdoor advertising operator Russ) told RB.RU.
- Following the shooting near the market office, the investigative commission opened a criminal case. According to investigators, seven people were injured as a result of the incident and two died from their injuries.
- Wildberries told RB.RU that Bakalchuk made “an attempt at illegal entry with armed guards.” The businessman explained that he had come to the office to negotiate the cessation of warehouse construction. The businessman’s wife and co-founder of the online platform, Tatyana Bakalchuk, reported that “no one agreed on any negotiations.”
- It is not known for certain who opened fire first. The parties blamed each other for this.
