Payment service PayPal has decided to change its terms of service and introduce a fee for inactive accounts in Russia, the company’s website reports.

The commission will be 3.5 thousand rubles or the amount of the account balance if it is less than the amount set by the company.

The new rule will apply to both personal and business accounts. The fee will be charged once a year for accounts that have not been used in the past 12 months. The changes will take effect on October 7, 2024.

Users who do not agree to the changes must close their accounts before the new terms become effective.

  • Payment company PayPal Holdings Inc. stopped operating in Russia in spring 2022. As of March 2, PayPal stopped registering new users from Russia.
