In August 2024, YouTube traffic in Russia decreased by 50%, RBC reports, citing data from CDN Video.

According to Yaroslav Gorodetsky, CEO of CDN Video, traffic from YouTube has been redistributed to VK Video (39%), Yandex (17%), RuTube and Ivi (8% each) and Okko (6%). At the same time, some of the traffic originates from foreign IP addresses, which indicates that users are finding ways to solve problems.

A Rutube representative said that according to their own data, the audience and traffic have “almost doubled” over the past two months. The company fulfilled its plan to double traffic in 2024 3.5 months ahead of schedule.

Problems with YouTube in Russia arose in August of this year for various home Internet operators across Russia. Roskomnadzor did not officially announce blocking or slowing down the service. [РБК]
