According to the company’s CEO Yaroslav Gorodetsky, YouTube traffic has shifted to VK Video (39%), Yandex (17%), Rutube (8%) and other platforms. According to experts, every fifth user is waiting for an interesting solution to replace YouTube.
Since the start of the YouTube slowdown, the services that have managed to increase traffic the most are Okko (+50%), VK Video (+35%) and Ivy (+30.4%), Gorodetsky said.
The first mass YouTube outage occurred in Russia on August 1; users began having problems accessing the site and playing videos. Google has repeatedly stated that it has nothing to do with the difficulties faced by Russian users.
A month later, amid a customer outflow, providers began speeding up YouTube’s work, to which Roskomnadzor responded by demanding that the use of technologies that “distort, fragment and replace Internet traffic” be excluded.
The providers subsequently complained to the FAS that they were discriminated against due to the “uneven slowdown” of YouTube and other Google services. The slowdown has led to an increase in user complaints to the companies.
