The E2 Enhanced Launch System promises to not only streamline the takeoff process, but also optimize the aircraft’s range and weight, enabling longer flights. System reliability is a key advantage, according to Embraer’s chief engineer Patrice London. “The system is better than the pilots,” London says.
CNN writes that the E2 system represents an interesting shift in aviation technology as automatic landing systems become standard on commercial flights.
Embraer has begun flight testing with the goal of gaining approval for the system in 2025.
