TRN MTE Dynamic Headphones Review: The Wrong Headphones You’ll Like

The TRN MTE wired headphones complete a series of five budget model reviews. The MTEs have a familiar shape, unlike the TRN CS3 Micro, as well as a sound that is quite suitable for listening to music without / with a “whistle”. The model is cheap.

The model liked the easy transfer of the musical canvas. Any genre sounds bright, strong and exciting. The TRN MTE headphones will suit everyone from little ones to big ones.

They have a feature that they simplify the music, but the trust points (battery, shock and a minimum of details) are present, which makes the headphones not correct, but the sound is interesting.

Headphone Description

The headphones come in a small package, on the back of which you can find the technical specifications.

Inside we find the MTE model. The location is familiar to everyone – this is how any company packs budget models. The composition includes: headphones, a two-wire cable, three pairs of ear tips, instructions and a warranty card.

In the store, you can customize the earphone case. This is like an option for a small amount to get unique earphones.

The included cable is thin, prone to kinking, and has ear hooks. The plug is L-shaped, as some users like.

The body of the model is transparent, you can choose a fully colored one or make your own. The diameter of the sound guide is 6 mm.

Nice headphones, of an acceptable size, which are not noticeable in the ears and through which it is pleasant to listen to music. Since headphones are low impedance, you shouldn’t apply much amplification to them.

Listening to music

I liked the headphones because they transmit any genre just as well, at their price (I can’t call it terrible, because the review models are far from the level of unpleasant sound of “TRN CS3 Micro via DAC”). The image is blurry, there are rough edges in it: either the ending is short, but heavy, then artifacts are heard, but the capous does not bring them out much, then low echoes are felt in the midrange when the vocalist solos: but they fade after creating an overall perception of the sound and comparison with the price of the headphones. This print is not from the series, but what you wanted for 400 rubles. No, quite a nice sound, not to disturb, not to listen, but to relax. A good example is the composition KMFDM – Kunst (Kunst, 2013).

Dance music is perceived as in childhood, bright, rhythmic and captivating. The attacks are not as loud, but his blow is long and strong. An example of a composition that does this is Atmos & Echo-lab – Random Landlord (Overlap, 2001). The headphones transmit a good tube sound, it is soft and enveloping – this is its main captivating feature. I like it despite the low price.

TRN MTE do not go into micro-contrast, with them you will not hear the smallest details and the whole scene will be colored by drums, among which you will be able to distinguish three or four instruments.

It’s nice to listen to heavy music: rock, metal and the like. In such compositions, the endings are blurred, but this does not make the music completely terrible, but it gives the anger with which such compositions are often perceived. The instruments are distinguished, even the positioning is felt (with noise, but there is).

The upper range in such headphones turns out to be warm, that is, not crisp and bright to the point of hoarseness, as in Moondrop Chu (review here), but vice versa. It’s nice to listen to songs like Yiruma – Shining Smile (Solo, 2021).

After listening to the TRN MTE headphones, there was a certain misunderstanding that good, light and carefree sound can be so cheap. This happens, the MTE model is a good example of this.

The review of five representatives of budget headphones is coming to an end, among which only Kbear KS2 was not mentioned in the text (review here). For me, I choose two heroes, oddly enough, the current representative of the review and TinHiFi T1S (review here). They are diametrically opposed to each other: T1S transmits sound at the levels of the Harman curve and MTE – completely different. This is what attracted me to two models. Which ones did you like?

The price of the TRN MTE headphones corresponds to the TRN CS3 Micro model. I liked the headphones. For their price they sound good. TRN has many inexpensive models. By sound, judging by the current rep, they should be good, all else being equal. I will continue listening to this brand.
