Pavel Durov announced a change in Telegram policy.
Now the messenger has changed the search operation and blocked any mentions of illegal goods. The address of the violators will be transferred to the relevant authorities.
Telegram’s search is more powerful than other messaging apps because it allows users to enter public channels and bots. Unfortunately, this feature has been used by people who violate our Terms of Service to sell illegal goods.
Over the past few weeks, a dedicated team of moderators has made Telegram search much safer using artificial intelligence. All problematic content we found in search is not yet available. To further prevent abuse of Telegram Search, we have updated our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to ensure consistency across the globe. We have made it clear that IP addresses and phone numbers of those who violate our rules may be disclosed by relevant provisions in response to valid legal requests.
These measures should deter the premises. Telegram search is designed to find friends and news, not to promote illegal goods. We do not allow attackers to compromise the integrity of our platform for almost billions of users.
