He believes that within 8 or 10 years it will be possible to manufacture a fully autonomous train, but the presence of a person on it will still be necessary, because “to guarantee safety, it is still necessary to take certain robotization measures.”
Belozerov said that the first train in automatic mode will arrive at the MCC as early as 2024. The driver in it only opens and closes the doors. Artificial intelligence, he said, still has to learn to analyze these actions using cameras.
The 2nd International Forum on Digital Technologies in Transport and Logistics “Digital Transport – 2024” will be held in the Lomonosov cluster in Moscow until September 24. The participants will be presented with the latest achievements in the field of unmanned vehicles, artificial intelligence, space communications and digital services.
Russia’s first unmanned train, Lastochka, has started transporting passengers on the Moscow Central Circle (MCC). The Russian Railways train travels autonomously; using neural networks, it assesses the situation, makes decisions and performs necessary actions.
