The number of vacancies for truck drivers exceeded the number of resumes by 2.3 times. Moreover, the proposed payment for such specialists increased by 1.5 times, and the average salary amounted to 124 thousand rubles and turned out to be the highest in the logistics industry.

This year, the shortage of workers has worsened due to the increase in fleets of transport companies, the slowdown in the growth rate of cargo supply or its reduction, said logistics market participants interviewed by Kommersant.

In the long term, a programme to popularise the prestige of this profession, as well as an increase in the number of driving schools, can help eliminate the shortage of truck drivers, believes Olga Fedotkina, chairwoman of the National Union of Transport and Logistics Experts.

  • On September 23, Kommersant reported that the volume of the Russian high-capacity road freight market by the end of the year could grow by 13% to 5.2 trillion rubles.

  • In the future, the volume will increase by an average of 7.5% annually and by 2028 it may reach 6.9 trillion rubles, according to experts from the auditing and consulting company Kept.

  • Several factors are responsible for the dynamics of the heavy-duty road transport market, including the increase in the tractor fleet by an average of 3.4% per year.
