Apple is about to release iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence, and many are wondering how much space the new AI features will take up. Apple itself has finally answered this question.
According to a document added to iOS 18.1 beta 5, Apple Intelligence requires 4GB of memory on an iPhone to run.
The document also includes a footnote that states that “storage requirements for Apple Intelligence models on devices will be considered for minimum deployment of new features.” So 4GB is the minimum for Apple Intelligence.
Also, this is a requirement for iPhones only. iPads and Macs may require different amounts of resources.
The size of Apple Intelligence in beta versions changes regularly. In iOS 18.1 beta 5, its weight decreased to 2.6 GB, although in previous firmware it occupied 3.5-4 GB.
But given that Apple will be including new features, the Apple Intelligence size will only be introduced in the transitional versions of iOS 18. [9to5Mac]
