They noted that they see increasing monetization efficiency as one of the key areas for the site’s development, so other major updates are in the works.
“We have updated the monetization system and launched a wallet to make it more convenient for bloggers to register, manage their earnings and receive payments much faster,” said Sergey Stamboltsyan, General Director of GPM Projects (managed by Rutube, part of Gazprom Media Holding).
Bloggers’ remuneration will be credited daily to a virtual wallet, from which money can be withdrawn to a bank card or mobile phone account. The minimum savings threshold has also been lowered, the company said, but did not specify to what level. The data required to register for the monetization service is filled in automatically through State Services, they added.
Self-employed bloggers will be able to become owners of a virtual wallet. Integration with the government service “My Tax” will automate the receipt of supporting documents from the Federal Tax Service.
After YouTube slowed down in Russia, Rutube launched a feature to transfer videos from the American video hosting site. You can transfer up to 2 thousand videos with a duration of up to 300 minutes at a time.
