YouTube’s “question-answering” AI rolled out to more users in the US on Monday (23). The tool answers questions about the video being viewed, but only for YouTube Premium subscribers.

YouTube’s AI, introduced in June of this year, works like a traditional chatbot, but is enriched by the content of the video being played. During viewing, the user can ask questions about the broadcast, as well as asking the model to summarize everything in the text.

The tool is accessed via the “Ask” button, located between the “Share” and “Download” options. Tapping on it will open a chat screen where the user must enter the request.

Firstly, ‘Question-Answering’ AI Launched to Few Users in the United StatesThe feature is now available to all YouTube Premium subscribers in the country (and only with English support).

This addition is another benefit for the platform’s subscribers, although it’s a completely optional feature. Local AI can help find accurate information about a video, like ingredients in a recipe or places visited on a trip.

But like any productive AI, the YouTube chatbot can make mistakes, so it’s important to take the information it presents with a grain of salt.

YouTube Premium is available in Brazil (but for now without “question-answering” AI) for R$ 24.90 per month.
