Tanygina noted that hidden obesity does not mean excess fat in appearance, everything is normal with a person’s body weight, but the weight is higher than normal. This indicates that the internal organs are overgrown with fat. This type of obesity is also called visceral.

The doctor noted that hidden obesity is caused by excess insulin in the blood. And food will help fight it.

To effectively get rid of excess insulin, it is necessary to limit as much as possible in your diet the amount of easily digestible fast carbohydrates, that is, foods with a high glycemic index: bananas, grapes, raisins, sugar, honey, bakery products and all products made from white flour, potatoes, fruit juices and sweet soda.

The lowest GI foods are cucumber, tomato, cabbage, pepper, turnip, raw carrot, pearl barley, whole grain pasta, dairy products, prunes, dried apricots, figs, apple, citrus fruits, berries and dark chocolate. In general, meat, fish, seafood, eggs and hard cheeses do not contain carbohydrates.

“Visceral obesity is hormonal. Insulin, which has an anabolic effect, stimulates the increase of fatty tissue and, most disturbingly, prevents its breakdown. If calorie restriction is sufficient for fat in the hips or buttocks, then this will not work for visceral fat: as long as there is excess insulin in the blood, fat will not be broken down,” explained the expert.
