“In current economic realities, there is no need to make conceptual changes in fiscal policy to form sources of budget income,” the Ministry explained.
Why does the government change taxes? The previous day, the director of the Fiscal Policy Department of the Ministry of Finance, Danil Volkov, said that “the realities of the current moment will make adjustments” to the fiscal policy. According to Volkov, the measures in fiscal policy are implemented on the basis of the “challenges and threats” faced by the country. At the same time, the official emphasized that the Ministry of Finance “in any case is configured to implement” the president’s order to guarantee the stability of the fiscal system until 2030.
- In October, Reuters surveyed by economists reported that in 2025 in Russia they could also increase taxes. The previously declared measures, including the progressive scale of the Personal Income Tax, may not be enough to cover the costs of the military operation in Ukraine, the agency wrote.
