Alexa has become increasingly common in homes around the world. The voice-based artificial intelligence system developed by Amazon is a great tool to help anyone who wants to automate simple home routines and even ensure the security of their home.
For this purpose, the company itself developed Alexa Guard, a security system. A set of pre-programmed resources to assist with home invasions or similar actions. They range from triggering alarms to making robocalls to the police.
And today TecMundo shows you what Alexa Guard is and how it works. Continue reading?
What is Alexa Guardian?
As mentioned earlier, Alexa Guard is a service on the Amazon platform that brings a number of automations related to the security of your home. Available only in the United States and has a number of resourcesfor example:
- Automatic activation of smart burglar alarms;
- Routines for moving cameras upon system activation;
- Automatic connection to emergency services such as police and firefighters;
- Fire systems are activated in case of smoke on the sensors.
The service costs $4.99 per month or $49 per year in the United States. As of now, there is no expected date for Alexa Guard to arrive in Brazil.
Create your Alexa Guard
However, although the system not yet available in the country, you can create some routines to have a sort of Alexa Guard in your home. Especially if you already have a camera system integrated into the Amazon platform.
In these cases, it’s possible to create a routine that will prompt Alexa to take action when motion or sound is detected. The important thing is to record or photograph images as soon as this happens.
You can also go further and create a stricter routine, such as activating sound or light alarms in case the system detects something unusual.
Additionally, if you have a larger system in your home that includes door openings and passages, you can create more specific routines for these situations.
For example, Automatically lock your entire home if cameras detect unusual movementThis way, if you forget to lock something, the system is prevented from doing it for you.
Finally, although it doesn’t integrate with police systems in Brazil, you can also set up a routine to notify someone if there’s a problem at your home.
For this reason, it is possible to send a message to people you trust, even your apartment’s doorman or private security, if you have one.
