The material is based on data from credit history agencies. According to their data, in the last 12 months the number of borrowers with three or more loans increased by 2.2 million people.

The total debts of Russians with a bank loan and a loan from a microfinance organization increased by 852 billion rubles over the year. The debt of people who first asked for a loan from a bank and then sought money from microfinance organizations increased by 50% in 12 months, the Central Bank calculated.

According to the regulator, the average debt of a borrower with one existing loan is 452 thousand rubles, with two loans – 795 thousand rubles, with three or more – 1.4 million rubles.

Over the past 12 months, the number of borrowers from banks and microfinance organizations increased by 3.6 million people; As of July 1, 2024, their total number was 50.3 million people.

In August, Russians’ spending on credit cards, according to the Scoring Bureau, reached its highest level in two and a half years. The credit card utilization rate (the proportion of the card limit used) increased almost 2 percentage points, to 33.9%.
