“On the night of October 7, VGTRK’s online services suffered an unprecedented hacker attack, but no significant damage was caused to the media holding’s work. <...> The holding’s specialists are working to eliminate the consequences of this harmful intervention,” the press service noted.

Previously, Gazeta.ru sources reported about a cyber attack on VGTRK online services. According to the publication, as a result of the hack, the company’s telephone and Internet communications stopped working. “We deleted everything from the servers, including backups. They work all hours from 6 am. The problem, as I understand it, is very serious,” stated the publication’s interlocutor.

On the VGTRK website, at the time of publication of the news, broadcasts of the television channels “Russia 1”, “Russia 24”, “Culture”, “Radio Russia” and “Mayak” did not work. I get error 503: “the service is temporarily unavailable.”

On the “We Watch” platform (it broadcasts the content of VGTRK channels) there is a connector that redirects viewers to social networks, where some posts invite users to return to broken pages of the service.

At the same time, VGTRK digital broadcasting is available, the channels work normally on TVs.

Last summer, Russian Railways reported a “massive hacker attack” on its resources. The company’s website did not open at the time and the mobile app worked intermittently.
