According to Downdetector, the blackout began around 7:30 p.m. Moscow time. As of 21:00 Moscow time, the number of complaints received from users exceeded 800. More than 80% of complaints indicate a “website failure” of the RKN.
Downdetector also shows that between 18:30 and 19:45 Moscow time, a network failure was recorded on the RKN website, which then disappeared, and the number of user complaints increased.
In the Downdetector comments, users comment unflatteringly on RKN’s actions regarding the Discord messenger. The department blocked access to it on Monday, August 8.
“Access to the Discord messenger is limited due to a violation of the requirements of Russian legislation, the implementation of which is necessary to prevent the use of the messenger for terrorist and extremist purposes, the recruitment of citizens to commit them, the sale of drugs. , and in connection with the publication of illegal information,” said representatives of RKN.
Discord’s blocking was preceded by massive disruptions to its operation on October 8, September 26, and September 19.
