Have you ever taken 10 minutes before inviting friends over and realized you forgot to create a custom playlist for the event? This happens to me all too often and it’s always a last minute “God help us” to beat the clock. Okay, maybe that’s a lot of drama, but it’s really happening.
Yesterday at Amazon’s Delivering the Future event, I had the opportunity to try out a really fun new feature that could solve this problem and help discover new music at the same time. The new feature, called Maestro, uses artificial intelligence to quickly create playlists with simple prompts. It is logically integrated with Amazon Music.
In my test I used the command “Instrumental rock for sad days when it’s raining and my dog wants to go for a walk.” Within seconds, the system created a complete playlist for me to listen to on this topic. And I admit that I thought the first 10 songs were pretty accurate (later came the songs I didn’t know yet).
According to Amazon itself, the prompts can also be simpler (or more complex). During the presentation of the feature, it was said that even emojis could be used as clues, and it was definitely said that the phrase “my friends are coming for lunch at feijoada and I wanted a playlist that goes well with caipirinha” would also be a good choice.
This feature was already demonstrated at another event in April, but this was the first time I was able to use it. It is very likely that Amazon Music Maestro will be released worldwide with Alexa integration soon. In other words: With the help of artificial intelligence, you will be able to create playlists without having to type anything. Source confirmed here!
