Developer Alice Rosenzweig announced the Asahi Game Playing Toolkit at the XDC conference.
It is a tool to run PC game on Mac via Asahi Linux operating system. Unlike macOS, Asahi Linux has single compatible OpenGL, OpenCL and Vulkan drivers for Macs with M1 and M2 chips.
While Asahi Game Playing Toolkit is in alpha version, it already allows you to play top games such as Control, Fallout 4 (screenshot in the photo above) and Cyberpunk 2077. Most games require 16 GB of RAM because Asahi Linux requires a lot of resources for emulation. The video below shows examples of some of the games’ work.
To run the game you need to install Fedora Asahi Remix on your Mac, update the driver and install Steam.
The developers do not yet plan to support support for the M3 processor. Instead, they want to focus on optimizing the code for M1 and M2. [MacStories]
