As part of the agreement, Postgres Professional will invest 3 billion rubles in the development of Flanta products; we are talking about the Deckhouse line, including the Deckhouse Kubernetes Platform containerization platform.

Under the terms of the agreement, Postgres Professional will receive a minority stake in Flaunt until 2028. It will be determined based on Flant’s financial results over the next three years. Current shareholders will retain control of the company.

In 2023, Postgres Professional LLC’s revenue amounted to 8.19 billion rubles, and net profit exceeded 7 billion rubles. The same figures for JSC Flat amounted to 949 million and 241 million rubles, respectively.

Kubernetes- is a container management platform that provides centralized load balancing, scaling, and orchestration for multiple isolated applications. Containers can run a variety of applications, including database management systems (DBMS).

As Sergei Smirnov, head of the DevSecOps cluster of the Sfera platform, told Kommersant, Postgres Professional and Flat do not compete, since their products are often used together. Oblakoteka CEO Maxim Zakharenko notes that the main problem with such solutions is insufficient maturity, but Deckhouse can become an important part of corporate DBMSs thanks to investments. CorpSoft24 Lead Engineer Mikhail Sergeev emphasizes that Flant’s support will strengthen Postgres Professional’s position in the open source solutions market and expand its influence.

In May 2024, the Center for Strategic Research (CSR) published a report according to which the demand for Russian DBMSs accelerated significantly in 2020-2021, and intensified especially in 2022. This occurred against the background of the exit of companies Westerners from Russia and their refusal, in some cases simultaneously, to endorse their products purchased by Russian customers. According to USSR forecasts, by 2030 the Russian market for DBMS and data processing tools will grow by 250% compared to 2023 and reach a volume of 234 billion rubles.
