Samokat delivery service plans to launch its own production of refrigerated semi-finished products in St. Petersburg. Job offers for meat chefs are posted on recruitment platforms, Shopper reports.

The personnel service informed the publication’s correspondent that the workshop will begin operating in October, it will produce meat, fish and poultry products: cutlets, sausages and slices. The finished products will arrive at Samokat warehouses and be shipped to customers. The production will be located at the Miller Center multifunctional complex in the Primorsky District. The company’s press service declined to comment.

In October 2023, Kommersant wrote about Samokat’s plans to open its own food production. Then Smart Factory LLC, headed by Vitaly Levin, was registered; from 2006 to 2014, he headed a similar direction at Magnit (Kubansky Culinary LLC).

Now Samokat sells many semi-finished products under its own brand, but they are produced by third-party companies: Parsit, Perspektiva, Farmersky Supermarket, Penzamolinvest, Agroalliance MT.

According to Infoline, in 2023 Samokat became the market leader in online grocery trading with a turnover of 165.3 billion rubles, doubling within a year.

In January 2024, Samokat began searching for a product manager to create and manage its own line of home appliances and electronics. The job description states that the production of equipment is planned in China, and the candidate must have experience in launching products in Chinese factories and know the market for small household appliances.
