Scientists have found that the spin echo that occurs when radio waves interact with polymer molecules can be used to accurately determine the shape of polymer molecules. To distinguish spherical molecules from linear ones, it is enough to watch how the NMR signal decays over time, the press service noted.
The new method will allow scientists to quickly select the optimal composition and structure of polymers to create nanocapsules used in targeted therapy for diseases. Such nanocontainers will be more effective in delivering drugs to target organs.
