“The platform will be created on the basis of a private cloud, taking into account information security requirements. It will also ensure the coherence, unity and security of data in accordance with the principles of the national Data Economy project,” the statement said.

The platform will be developed on the basis of VK Tech’s own infrastructure. The center will be headed by Alexander Trusov, who previously headed the Center for Oil and Gas Technologies at Innopolis University.

“The new VK Tech competence center will allow us to combine the best solutions available on the market and ensure stable, smooth and efficient operation of IT systems in the Russian oil and gas industry,” said the general director of VK Tech, Pavel Gontarev.

In early October, Gontarev announced plans to make VK Tech “Russia’s answer to Microsoft,” noting that the company’s cloud and infrastructure solutions are “in many ways similar to an operating system.”
