A former employee said in a post on the anonymous platform Blind that she used company loans to buy toothpaste and tea bags. “On the days I didn’t eat in the office, like if my husband was cooking or I was having dinner with friends, [тратила кредиты на другие покупки]so that they do not disappear,” he explained.
The fired employee noted that her salary at Meta* was approximately $400,000 a year, that she often worked “nights and weekends,” and was surprised when Human Resources began investigating. “It was almost surreal,” he wrote.
According to the Financial Times, Meta* employees who violated company rules were only occasionally reprimanded, but not fired. The company’s press service did not want to comment on this information, but stated that the composition of “some teams” has undergone changes to adapt them to “long-term strategic objectives.”
According to The Verge, the cuts affected the Instagram and WhatsApp divisions. A company representative told the publication that if an employee’s position is eliminated, Meta* attempts to offer alternative positions.
In April 2024, Meta* reported first-quarter earnings that beat analyst estimates. The company, in particular, showed revenue growth of 27%, to $36.5 billion.
*Meta is recognized as an extremist organization in Russia and is banned.
